NEWSLETTER – APRIL 2007
Staff changes
Rising numbers of Nursery children have required us to look for new members of staff. Additionally, Wendy Tivendale has had to leave us for personal reasons, moving back to Redcar.
Whilst we were lucky enough to find Sally Williams, a locally experienced and qualified Nursery Assistant, she too has had to resign shortly after joining as her husband, a serviceman, has been unexpectedly posted away from the area.
However, we welcome Nicola Evans to our staff who will be working part-time with us, and in the meantime we are interviewing other candidates to complete our staff quota.
Fundraising
We are delighted to report that The Learning Tree was recently supported by housebuilding national giant, George Wimpey homes, in its recent opening of the new homes built opposite the racecourse.
Mr Gareth Davies, director of George Wimpey, attended in person to hand over a cheque for £200. Pictures will be released in the press and on the website shortly. The money has been used to buy the new outdoor play-chalet, which you can see on the website.
In other fundraising initiatives, the Chairman is just about completing a Fantasy League World Cup Cricket competition, which will raise over £250.
Further fundraising events and initiatives will be discussed at the next Committee meeting.
Committee Meeting
The date of the next Committee meeting is Wednesday, 9th May 2007 at the Dog & Gun, 7.30 pm onwards. Interested parents are welcome to join.
We are going to start publishing notices, agendas and minutes on the website, so that parents have full access to everything discussed and which affects them and their children.
Parking in the School lay-by
We are informed that the Police intend to clamp down on parking by anyone in the School lay-by at any times of the day between 7 am and 8 pm. This is not a public parking area, and we are told that the Council will soon be remarking the area.
Carlton Miniott Parent, Baby & Toddler Group
The Learning Tree wishes to bring to parent’s attention the availability of the Baby & Toddler Group in Carlton Miniott. This group is voluntary run and relies on the local community to keep it going.
Sessions are from 10 am to 11.30 am meeting weekly on a Monday morning at the Parish Rooms, opposite the Dog & Gun, light refreshments provided. Please see the link on our website for further details (on Useful links, News and Events pages).
New uniforms
As part of the Committee’s drive towards improving standards and quality, the staff have been provided with new uniforms, so that you can always identify the member of staff (which will be quite useful for forthcoming new starters), and presents a Learning Tree image.
Staff have been allowed to choose their own style, provided it is in black with the Learning Tree logo, so that we have a consistent format of uniform with staff feeling comfortable individually.
Kiddy T-shirts
If any parents are interested, we would be happy to arrange for Learning Tree T-shirts to be made available to buy for their children. Please speak to Sonia for further details.
Ofsted
On Tuesday 17th April 2007 The Learning Tree Nursery successfully completed an unannounced Ofsted inspection. A full report will be appearing on the Internet within 15 days of the inspection and a copy will be sent to the Management committee about the same time. The next inspection will be in approximately 3 years time.
Sponsored Bike Ride
From Monday 30th April – Friday 4th May 2007 the children will be taking part in a sponsored bike ride. They will be riding around the new ‘Play’ racetrack in the school grounds and all money raised will be used to improve our outside area.
